About the Workforce Registry

Acerca del Registro de Personal

Early childhood educators recognize the critical importance of highquality care and education in the first five years of a child’s life. Research shows that early learning experiences play a major role in brain development and have long-term benefits. Children who attend high-quality early learning programs demonstrate stronger critical thinking skills, enhanced social engagement, and higher academic performance in reading and math. They are also more likely to graduate from high school and attend college.

Child care programs play a significant role in preparing children for school and beyond. According to Child Care Aware, approximately 11 million children under the age of 5 are in some form of child care across the United States, spending an average of 36 hours per week in these settings. To support the educators who shape these crucial years, the California Early Care and Education Workforce Registry was established as a statewide initiative to track and enhance professional development opportunities for early childhood educators.

Who uses the CA Workforce Registry

The registry is designed for all professionals working in early childhood education (ECE), including:

  • Teachers, aides, and paraprofessionals
