Beginning Together: Building Blocks for Teaching Children with Special Needs

Building Blocks is a book with a specific set of practices that are meant to increase the engagement of children with disabilities and delays in the ongoing learning activities of the early childhood environment. It is a way of blending early childhood education and special education to enhance learning for all children. Participants will: Understand the relationship between Building Blocks practices and current trends in early childhood education Become familiar with the Building Blocks text as a resource Learn about the Building Blocks model for integrating Special Education and Early Childhood Education to benefit all children Understand how to use and teach Curriculum Modifications, Embedded Learning Opportunities, and Child-Focused Instructional Strategies
