Last month Quality Start San Bernardino County (QSSB) had the great privilege of honoring early childhood educators from across the county! QSSB participants were recognized for completing their first year in the program as well as their overall commitment to providing high quality care and education for children zero to five.
Over 250 educators were invited to celebratory luncheons held in Victorville and San Bernardino on March 10th and 17th, respectively. Guests were treated to a superb lunch and inspired by two pillars of the early education community, keynote speakers James Moses, Regional Director of the Child Care Resource Center, and Rebecca Carreon-Bailey, child care provider, advocate and author. Participants also received certificates of achievement from the Office of the County Board of Supervisors.
Ms. Carreon-Bailey shared with the attendees, “We all have an impact on human lives. Because of our commitment to quality, our children are thriving.” Research confirms the sentiment that the care and education children receive from ages 0-5 plays a significant role in early brain development. And, that those children who attend high quality early learning programs are more likely to graduate from high school and have successful careers.
QSSB is San Bernardino’s County first Quality Rating and Improvement System designed to support early educators in family child care, private and state preschool environments. Funded by First 5 San Bernardino, QSSB helps bridge the opportunity gap to high quality early learning programs and works to ensure school readiness for all of San Bernardino’s children. Early care educators in the program receive:
- One on one coaching
- Quality improvement plans based on individual needs and goals
- Access to training and professional development opportunities
- Monetary and in-kind incentives
”As a provider for the last 30 years, it’s awesome to be a part of Quality Start. It builds us up to know QSSB values us as providers, supports our needs and helps us become better, more positive nurturers of the children and families in our care,” relates Rosita Smith, owner of Rosie’s Preschools in San Bernardino and Rialto.
Thank you for attending!
